Paradyn
Demonstrations of Paradyn, concentrating on support of multiple platforms,
different programming paradigms the automated hybrid search strategy.
-
Deep Start: Hybrid strategy for the automated
search for bottlenecks
-
Carry-on: x86/Linux Paradyn monitoring an
MPI-based ocean circulation modelling application (OM3) on an 8-node carry-on
cluster
-

Room 6358
-
MPI on AIX: Paradyn on a 16-processor IBM SP3
running the MPI-based OM3 application
-
Threads on AIX: Demonstration showing how
the thread-aware Paradyn provides detailed performance information
for a multithreaded application, based on run-time instrumentation of pthreads
on SMP nodes of IBM SP3
Dyninst
-
Dynaprof: Command-line tool for dynamic instrumentation
of serial, threaded, and MPI parallel programs with PAPI hardware counter
and timer probes using dyninst
-
Binary Editing Using Dyninst
-
DPCL on the University of Maryland/University
of Wisconsin implementation of Dyninst
-
Code Coverage: Using the Dyninst API to perform
code coverage
-
Using Dyninst to Instrument Memory Operations
Reliable Packets
Reliable sockets (rocks) and reliable packets (racks)
protect applications from network connections failures, including those
due to disconnection, change of IP address, or process migration. Both
systems are transparent, portable, and easy to use, requiring no application,
OS, or network modifications. This demonstration will show how rocks and
racks can (1) preserve interactive applications on mobile computers and
(2) checkpoint and migrate long-running programs that communicate over
sockets.
KernInst
KernInst is a framework for dynamically instrumenting the operating
system kernel. We demonstrate a multiprocessor kernel performance monitoring
tool, based on this framework
